The May 2007 Emerging Research Summit
The AISTI Board of Directors held the second Emerging Research Summit in 2007. They realized there was a sense of urgency in the library community to address the future of digital libraries particularly in the area of E-science and Academic Libraries, especially the warehousing, curation, and re-use systems for large data sets/streams.

The purpose of the meeting was to bring together leaders in the field of information science to address the needs of the future library and information enterprise and to explore solutions to the challenge of creating and managing data generated by the research community. The goal of the meeting was to create a dialog, develop new insights and ideas, and start a process leading to experimental solutions, which can be expanded and made available to the digital library community.
The group was organized with pre-reading and work, with the question: In the area of creating and managing data in your organization or for the greater community, "what keeps you up at night and what excites you?"
